BNI Wednesday Recap – March 4 (Yeah I know I'm behind on this one--but better late than never!)

Wednesday, March 4, we had the pleasure of hearing from our Feature Presenter, Alex Repsholdt, owner of Owl Stays, and as always, Alex brought his trademark enthusiasm, energy, and forward-thinking perspective to the room.

Alex is the CEO of Owl Stays, a Kansas City–based company that specializes in short-term rental property management and hosting services, helping property owners maximize their homes as vacation rentals while providing visitors with clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully managed places to stay when they come to our city.

From the moment Alex joined our chapter, he has been a fantastic addition to the group. His positivity is contagious, and he always shows up ready to contribute, support others, and help us think bigger about the opportunities around us.

During his presentation, Alex helped educate the chapter about something that’s right around the corner for Kansas City — the 2026 FIFA World Cup. With thousands of international visitors expected to arrive in our city, Alex explained how short-term rentals will play a major role in providing housing for travelers who want something different from a traditional hotel stay.

He shared insights into how property owners can participate in this opportunity and how the demand for accommodations will likely surge during the event. In fact, industry experts suggest that the influx of visitors could create significant earning opportunities for homeowners willing to open their homes to travelers during that time.

But beyond the numbers and opportunities, what stood out most was Alex’s passion for helping both travelers and homeowners benefit from the sharing economy. His mission with Owl Stays is to create a smarter way for travelers to stay and a smarter way for owners to manage their properties, while ensuring guests have a great experience visiting Kansas City.

🧠 BNI Recap — “Legally Laughing (and Learning)” Edition

Last week’s BNI meeting brought a healthy dose of law, laughter, and legacy planning — all courtesy of our featured speaker, Joe Van Amburg, Esq., who’s basically the superhero of estate planning (cape: optional; legal brilliance: required). Joe brought his boyish charm, quick wit, and more legal insight than you’d expect from an estate planning attorney — which is saying something because we half-expected him to schedule wills between 30-second asks.

Joe grew up in West Platte and then sharpened his legal mind at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, before being admitted to the bar in 2011. That’s right — this guy’s been legally laying down the law since before most of us knew what a trust even was.
