If you’re considering a charitable gift in 2026, keep in mind that contribution deductions may be limited based on your adjusted gross income (AGI), the type of gift and the organization receiving it.

A few things to know:

✔️ Cash contributions to many qualified public charities may generally be deductible up to 60% of AGI.
✔️New for 2026, taxpayers who don’t itemize may be eligible for a deduction of up to $1,000 in qualifying cash contributions, or $2,000 for married couples filing jointly.
✔️For larger gifts, timing and what you choose to donate can make a difference in the potential tax impact.
