It's National Dog Day and in our world, some dogs are coworkers.

Search and rescue K9s work the same disasters our camps support. They deploy into rubble and floodwater, work brutal hours, and ask for nothing but a tennis ball at the end of a shift. Absolute heroes.

Also shoutout to the shop dogs and porch dogs who supervise from a distance and especially our Hank who greets every customer with a smile.

Most disaster base camps don't fail because of bad equipment. They fail in the gaps between five different vendors who've never worked together before.

Chad McMichael, VP of Global Disaster Logistics, breaks down why single-source control is the difference between a camp running by noon and one still stuck in vendor arguments at midnight. In the 2024 Hurricane Helene response, GDL stood up four camps for 5,000 personnel in under 36 hours because one crew owned the entire sequence, from start to finish.

On a long deployment, clean clothes aren't a small thing. They're morale, hygiene, and readiness all in one.

Our laundry trailers keep crews in fresh gear day after day, no matter how far from home the job takes them.

Let's talk support:

Sleep. Showers. Restrooms. Hot meals. Power. Laundry. One team, one point of contact, one fully operational base camp.

That last part is the heart of it. When a single partner handles every piece of life-support, you're not coordinating five different vendors, chasing five different schedules, and hoping it all lines up on site. You have one operation, designed as a whole, with one number to call if anything needs attention.

That integration is what lets a camp stand up fast and run smoothly for weeks, every system planned to work with the others, everyone on the same team. It's the model we've built our entire operation around, and it's the difference your crew will feel every single day they're on site.

The difference between sanitation that works and sanitation that doesn't usually comes down to one thing: planning that happened before anyone showed up.

We figure out how many units a site needs and exactly where they should go, based on your real headcount and how foot traffic actually flows through the space, not a rough guess. Then we service them on a schedule built for real demand, so capacity holds up even at the busiest points of your event.

It's the unglamorous groundwork that keeps the whole subject in the background where it belongs, all the way through teardown.
Planning something big? Let's map it out together:

A wildfire base camp is a town that appears overnight and it grows every day the fire does. Hundreds, sometimes thousands, of firefighters cycle through between shifts and every one of them has to be fed, rested, and cleaned up well enough to go back out and hold the line.

The fire gets the headlines. The camp is what keeps the people fighting & standing.

Big news!! Dalton and Daisha, the videographers/content creators behind so much of what you see from us, are going to be on The Amazing Race.

CBS announced the Season 39 cast today and there they are: two videographers from Jacksonville and Flat Rock, about to race across five continents.

We've watched these two make dumpsters, restroom trailers, and substation sites look good which is hard. Watching them do it around the world is going to be something else.

Two-night premiere: Wednesday, September 30 and Thursday, October 1 on CBS. Go subscribe to their YouTube channel, "Daisha and Dalton," and follow along.

You can't pour from an empty cup and you can't safely run a 16-hour shift on bad sleep, day after day, for weeks.

Real rest is what makes a long deployment sustainable. Without it, fatigue builds, focus slips, and the risk of mistakes and injuries climbs. With it, crews stay sharp, safe, and able to keep up the pace the work demands. It's not a comfort question; it's a performance and safety one.

Our sleep trailers give crews a quiet, climate-controlled place to truly rest and recover between shifts not just lie down for a few restless hours, but actually sleep. On a hard, weeks-long operation, that recovery is one of the most valuable things we provide.

NOAA and CSU are both forecasting a below-normal 2026 Atlantic hurricane season. Here's the catch: some of the costliest storms in history hit during years experts called quiet. In our latest post, GDL CEO and President Erica McMichael breaks down why a calm forecast isn't a reason to wait on disaster logistics.

It's the reason to lock it in now, before pricing and pre-positioning become everyone else's problem instead of yours.
