On Thursday at 2:45pm please join us as NDC President Douglas Johnson participates in a panel to discuss recent developments in the California Voting Rights Act law and lawsuits.
Here is the official description and panelists, and the session qualifies for MCLE credit:
"The California Voting Rights Act (CVRA) continues to evolve, particularly following the California Supreme Court’s decision in Pico Neighborhood Assoc. v. City of Santa Monica. This session will examine key legal questions surrounding standards of proof in CVRA litigation, the status of active cases, and the implications for cities navigating at-large and district-based election systems. Panelists will also discuss recent developments, including the 2024 FAIR MAPS Act, and explore what options remain for cities evaluating their obligations under the law. Attendees will gain insights into the legal landscape and strategies for addressing election-related challenges.
