Exiting members of the military are enrolling in a Department of Defense (DoD) program that allows them to work at no cost in specific fields in local businesses while the DoD pays their salary. There are quite a few interested in human resources here in Metro Phoenix. It's an opportunity for the veteran to gain practical experience so they are more attractive to employers when they leave the military.
Free headcount--who doesn't love that?! You'll have the vet for about 90 days with no obligation to hire them. It is a full-time, 90-ish day, paid "internship" where the DoD pays the "intern's" salary--pretty slick! You know the traits of these vets: detail oriented, passionate, committed, compliant, adaptable, loyal...

I rarely get sappy, and never in social media. That said, consider this: two employees in an incredibly warm environment, tired, and they can barely see and hear what's around them. However, they instantly recognize a guest's (customer's) needs and deliver an incredible experience, particularly for on-lookers. Disney delivers this standard countless times each day and with a relatively low-paid workforce, but how can you get your employees to recognize opportunities like this and deliver amazing results?
