Small businesses drive our economy. As a local elected official, I see new businesses starting all the time in my community. I get excited at every ribbon-cutting I attend. However, I also see some of those businesses fail within months.

Starting a small business requires a great deal of understanding of how businesses operate. You can make a beautiful and delicious wedding cake, but knowing how to get a lease, oversee a buildout, develop a website, hire staff, and run a business are not taught in culinary school.
