Who has extra devices that do not need to be returned? And can we even find out what we can keep and at what point do we need to return them, if ever? Some schools are good at tracking and notifying us but it’s harder for some of them .

It would be great if this summer was a chance where unneeded Chromebooks could be given to the schools and added to inventory. Walter Reed Middle School is dismissing fees for lost and damaged devices if students write out their explanation to chronicle their own circumstance(s).

They ask that unneeded Chromebooks be brought in to increase their inventory. Our family members have at least 3 that were provided to us as central committee member (Community Advisory Committee for LAUSD).

I want to give 2 of them to Reed and 1 to our community elementary school. They can give us a receipt and if we lose one over the next few years we should be given a credit.

Reed can be a model or a maybe a pilot program for an amnesty system. It might save money and make more sense than billing fees. Same for library books 📕 fees!

Los Angeles unified schools have agreed to 100% of my personal appeal for appropriate exceptions for the phone ban. My letter to the board president Scott Schmerelson and the superintendent and my personal meeting with Scott prior to the implementation was well received.

This is what parent leadership looks like and this is the parent engagement that families require and deserve.
