Being able to answer first doesn’t mean you should.

In fact, it usually hinders your team from solving an issue well.

Leadership isn't about proving you can solve an issue the fastest.

It's about building a team around you who solves something you didn’t even know was there.

Stop answering first.

Every time you jump in with the answer, you rescue the decision and take it back. Capable people learn to wait.

Next time someone brings you a problem, ask: "What do you recommend?"

If you keep taking it back, you can't blame them for handing it to you.
