I love keeping Starbucks gift cards in my bag, ready to thank people like flight attendants and car wash team members. When we plan to be kind, it makes it easier. 🎉

I left inspired after my first opportunity to work with leaders from the American Red Cross.

Their mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering—and the impact they make every day in communities across the country—was felt throughout the entire session.

Our day focused on Leading with Influence with 50 leaders. We started by building connection and finding common ground because influence starts with trust—and trust grows when people feel known.

From there, we explored how we communicate: being more curious, asking others how they prefer to communicate, and strengthening our ability to listen and connect.

We also worked through four leadership situations—from leading diagonally and upward to influencing across teams and communities—and practiced tools to build engagement and appreciation.

No slides. Just conversations, personal scorecards, accountability plans, and practical action.

A reminder that effective leadership starts with self-awareness, communication skills, and genuine curiosity about others.

Thank you to the Red Cross team for the work you do and the difference you make every day. ❤️

Part two of Convincing Communication focused on helping participants become more memorable, confident, and intentional in their presentations.

In our interactive session, participants:

• Practiced storytelling with an impromptu exercise

• Received feedback on body language, tone of voice, and delivery using an impact scorecard

• Learned powerful techniques to open and close presentations with more confidence and engagement

• Explored how stories, bold claims, statistics, activities, testimonials, questions, and surprise moments can capture attention

• Worked with partners to apply the tools directly to upcoming presentations and conversations

The biggest reminder:
Effective communicators spend less time thinking about themselves and more time thinking about their audience.

The real impact comes from intentionally planning your opening, your closing, and how you will confirm your message was truly received and remembered.

Less words.

More visuals.

More engagement.

More curiosity.

16 years at Dale Carnegie.

16 years of Allison Clarke Consulting.

That realization hit me this week as my daughter Jamie and I launched my refreshed website, which better represents what I provide to clients today.

What makes this even more meaningful is that Jamie has built her own company, helping small to mid-sized businesses grow through:

Brand Messaging & Strategy
Performance marketing
Website design & optimization
Organic social media strategy
LinkedIn content writing
Watching her build her own business and help other companies communicate their value so clearly makes me incredibly proud.

As we worked on the site together, it reminded me how much my own business has evolved over the years. Since starting Allison Clarke Consulting, I’ve had the opportunity to:

Publish three books
Train thousands of people
Coach leaders and executives
Help teams strengthen communication and culture
Lead keynotes, retreats, and workshops across the country
One thing has stayed constant through all 32 years: effective communication is at the center of every successful individual and team.

Grateful for every client, team, and individual who has trusted me along the way. Seeing leaders and teams unlock their full potential through communication never gets old, and I am so excited for what is next.
