I often share with indie creatives the importance of utilizing the live performance to work to their advantage of building and establishing a core audience. Here are 4 tips that I feel can help to maximize each live performance.
♦️1. Work the room. Gain as many contacts as possible, emails and phone numbers are your direct contacts not just social media. As an indie creative you aren’t above shaking hands and kissing babies so to say to show your interpersonal skills that will get people to join your email or text list.
♦️2. Add a live version to the song that you have been successfully recording. When new fans go to your live performance for the first time give them a unique experience by performing a song that you’ve been working on that no one has heard but has been successfully coming together in the studio.
♦️3. Create successful merch to only be sold only at the show that you’ve been promoting. Merchandise is one of the top revenue drivers for indie creatives but can also be something that creates a piece of history.
♦️4. Create a unique VIP experience for your new supporters. This creates a memorable moment that they can take with them forever. Creating an experience where it can be a multi-faceted experience where new supporters are able to experience behind the scene activities that are specifically designed for that tour stop that will never take place again in that way as a VIP experience.

When indie creatives "super serve" their core audience, those within the community are more likely to support them in the long term. By focusing on serving the specific needs and interests of their core audience, indie creatives can build a strong relationship with their supporters , which can lead to increased engagement, loyalty, and word-of-mouth promotion. This approach can also help indie creatives differentiate themselves within a crowded marketplace because the barrier to entry has become extremely easy.
