In-line Lint Traps! The Pros and Cons.
The purpose of an in-line lint trap is to catch lint so your dryer vent doesn’t clogged up as fast. With regular cleaning of the lint trap you will not need to get your dryer vent cleaned as often, but if the trap isn’t cleaned every few months, you will see a decline in your dryer’s performance.
Pros: With regular cleaning, your main vent won’t have to be cleaned as often.
Cons: The lint trap is a trap as the name implies, and will build up lint quicker than a normally vent. If not cleaned regularly it will clog up quickly, blocking the dryer’s airflow.
Even with regular cleaning, a trap can slow down the airflow.
Most modern day homes don’t have in-line lint traps, but if you have one in your dryer vent, be sure to get it cleaned. Regular dryer vent cleaning should be done every 1 to 3 years.
