As much as I would love to promise every family a perfectly healthy kitten, the truth is that no breeder can honestly make that guarantee.
Our kittens are living, breathing little beings, and just like people, they can be susceptible to illnesses, viruses, bacteria, injuries, or health conditions that may develop over time. That’s simply part of life.
At MyGeekTails Maine C**n Cattery, we do everything we can to give our kittens the healthiest start possible. We health test our breeding cats, perform genetic screenings, keep up with veterinary care, and carefully select our breeding program with health and temperament in mind. But even with all of those precautions, there is no such thing as a “perfect” kitten.
I share this not to scare anyone away from owning a Maine C**n—quite the opposite! Maine C***s are amazing companions, and I wouldn’t trade this breed for the world. I share this because I believe future owners deserve honesty and transparency.
When looking for a kitten, don’t focus on finding someone who promises a lifetime of perfect health. Instead, look for a breeder who is honest, stands behind their cats, provides health records, performs appropriate health testing, and is there to support you throughout your kitten’s life.
At the end of the day, what matters most isn’t an impossible guarantee—it’s finding a breeder you can trust.
