The thunder storms caused some outages this weekend, but they were no problem thanks to the help from our unusually tall lineman apprentice, Vic. No bucket truck needed for him!

Sadly, today is his last day with GVEC because he said he had "some game or something" this Wednesday against some folks from a Big Apple?!? Good luck in your future career, Vic! Whatever that may be, I’m sure you’ll reach great heights.

Did you know there are mobile substations? ⚡

Keeping substations in tip-top shape takes a lot of planning, coordination, and maintenance—and doing that work safely often means temporarily powering down a substation when that work is being done.

That’s where mobile substations come in. These portable units temporarily take over while crews perform maintenance and upgrades, helping keep members powered up with little to no disruption.

GVEC has three mobile substations, giving our teams the flexibility to keep reliability front and center. It takes multiple departments, skilled crews, and a whole lot of expertise to make something this complex look routine—and we think that’s pretty cool. 👏

👷Sometimes there's a bit more to our line crews' jobs than blown transformers or fallen lines. 👀
💪 Sometimes they’re navigating torn-up poles, mangled lines, damage spread across pastures, trees, and roadways, and even random trampolines hanging around where they shouldn’t be—all while working long hours in tough conditions to safely restore power.

We’re incredibly grateful for our linemen and vegetation crews who worked the storms the night before last and early yesterday morning. ⛈️ Their work takes training, teamwork, mindfulness, grit, and a whole lot of determination. ⚡Thank you for taking care of our members and communities when conditions are at their worst. 👏

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing community for supporting the GVEC Box Fan Drive! ❤️

Because of your generosity, we were able to collect and donate over 164 box fans to our local first responders with the Cibolo & Schertz Police and Fire Departments to help distribute to those in need throughout our community.

We are incredibly thankful for everyone who donated, stopped by, shared the word, and helped make this effort such a success. This is what community is all about!
