As we approach June and i put more Juneteenth items in the store; I am not surprised but did not expect the negative comments I had from a customer yesterday. This person looked at a Black History
t-shirt and asked where were the "brown, green, orange, and yellow celebration tshirts. I ignored this comment so she walked to the counter and asked me "What is the best part of Africa?" I politely informed her that Africa is a continent, not a nation. This conversation could have gone in an entire direction but sometimes, it is best to be quiet. My internal answer to her was the other color celebration shirts were located in the "Red Neck" section. I am just amazed that someone thinks it is ok to complain that we celebrate "black history." I am glad that this is the exception and not the norm of the customers we serve. Once again, leadership in the White House has made racism an acceptable act. This is 2025 and we can celebrate and acknowledge our differences without being offensive or insulting. What a lovely way to remind me that JUNETEENTH is almost here. We are ready for all the holidays. I can celebrate Juneteenth and July 4th without insulting anyone. Can we get back in the time machine and move forward to 2025, 1955 does not feel good!

It is February and as a business owner and a minority; I celebrate Black History this month. I know that one month is not long enough to highlight the accomplishments (and failures) of those who marched and fought to give us this right. It is this reason that I cannot simply ignore this month and not honor where we have come from. A celebration of Black History in 30 days is merely symbolic. As for me and my staff; we choose to celebrate this month. Hopefully this does not offend anyone else but it is important that WE teach black history because we live it everyday. Stop in Postal Pal and acknowledge this month. We pause to recognize our accomplishments this month but our hearts celebrate it every month. WELCOME TO FEBRUARY!!! We can mult-task so it is easy to recognize Black History Month while respecting our customers of other ethnicities. Black History is everyone's history. Research will give you the facts surrounding this recognition but I just wanted to keep the history alive. "Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it."(George Santayana).
