💡TIPS on How To Keep Your Washer/Dryer Working! 👇
🧺 THE WASHING MACHINE
✅️The goal here is to prevent leaks, mold, and motor strain.
💡Leave the Door Ajar: This is the #1 rule for front-loaders. Keeping the door cracked after a cycle allows the drum and seal to dry, preventing that "stinky towel" mold smell.
💡Check the Hoses: Every few months, peek behind the machine. If you see cracks, bulges, or dampness on the rubber hoses, replace them immediately.
Pro Tip: Switch to braided stainless steel hoses. They are much less likely to burst than standard rubber ones.
💡Don't Overload: It’s tempting to shove that last pair of jeans in, but overloading puts massive strain on the motor, bearings, and suspension. If it's packed tight, it’s too full.
💡Clean the Drain Filter: Most front-loaders have a small hatch at the bottom. Open it (have a towel ready!) and clear out the coins, hair ties, and lint trapped inside.
🔥 THE DRYER
✅️Maintenance here is about efficiency and, more importantly, fire safety.
💡Clean the Lint Screen Every Time: You likely do this, but ensure you’re getting the edges too. Once a month, wash the screen with soap and water to remove invisible waxy buildup from dryer sheets.
💡Vacuum the Vent Line: Once a year, disconnect the duct from the back of the dryer and vacuum it out. Lint buildup forces the dryer to run longer and hotter, which fries the heating element.
💡Check the External Vent: Go outside while the dryer is running. The flaps should be blowing open freely. If they aren't, there’s a clog.
💡Level the Legs: If your dryer (or washer) is "walking" or vibrating violently, the internal parts are wearing down prematurely. Use a level and adjust the feet until it's rock solid.
