It is always important to spend time with your current and potential clients in their world. After three days immersed in the magnificent insurance and reinsurance industry at the iis2014 conference we have come away with a great appreciation for the challenges faced by those that have choosen to accept the risk of protecting our life and property.

We walk away educated but it is not without an eyebrow raised. In any interaction between industries there are bound to be discrepancies and interface gaps. But the separation at all the intersections of the triangle of risk mitigation protection, academia and commercial data providers is wide here.

A greater acceptance and appreciation of investment by the private sector in new techology application and meaningful data acquisition has to be addressed. We look forward to working with the insurance and academic worlds to bridge this gap and create a safer and more sustainable world where individual comfort and meaningful wealth become the norm not a luxury.
