Construction begins this week at Taos Regional Airport! The main apron pavement has exceeded its useful life and requires complete reconstruction. This project, fully funded by the state, aims to enhance safety and operational efficiency at the airport. Anticipated to last 75 days, construction will be strategically managed to minimize disruptions, with only selective closures affecting the apron while both runways remain operational. We are excited to kick off this project and look forward to a lovely summer in Taos, New Mexico.

Another successful AZAA Spring Conference is in the books! Once again, our team had the privilege of contributing on two panels. Matt Tomasson, our Planning Project Manager, participated in a discussion covering “Navigating New Land Use Regulations for Non-Aeronautical and Mixed-Use Land.” This panel reviewed the FAA’s new land use ruling for non-aeronautical and mixed-use land uses and guidance from FAA.

Ken Moen, AAE, CAE, our Special Projects Manager, moderated a session entitled “Ensuring Your Airport is Prepared for Wildland Fire Support.” Given the frequent need for airports to aid in firefighting, this discussion emphasized the importance of emergency preparedness and how to best support these efforts.

Matt and Ken were honored to share their insights and expertise alongside fellow aviation professionals from across Arizona.
