In many cases, the sale process may take one to two years. However, if financial records need to be organized or the business depends heavily on its owner, preparing for a successful sale may begin two to three years before going to market.

Industry, location, cash flow, company size and employee structure can all influence the number of qualified buyers and the time required to find the right one.

Brian Bray explains why business owners should begin planning well before they are ready to sell. If a sale may be part of your future, the right time to prepare could be now.
