Friday afternoon and evening, our team had the opportunity to work alongside Henny Penny Corporate Chef Ben Holt and Regional Sales Manager Rickey Shafer at Fixins Soul Kitchen in downtown Detroit.

The focus was ongoing training and testing of pressure-fried chicken, helping ensure consistent quality, efficiency, and great results for both the kitchen team and their guests.

At UFS, we're proud to support our customers long after equipment installation. Whether it's training, menu development, or operational support, we're committed to helping operators get the most out of their investment.

It was also a pleasure meeting Fixins Soul Kitchen Detroit owner Kevin Johnson, former NBA All-Star, Olympic gold medalist, and member of the 1994 USA "Dream Team II." Learning about the continued growth of the Fixins brand and its commitment to excellence made for a great experience.

The smell of smoked ribs filled the air this morning at Rib Fest, hosted by Westlund's Apple Market

What started as a popular community tradition years ago was put on hold during the pandemic, but the Westlund family has brought it back stronger than ever. After an incredible turnout last month, selling more than 600 slabs of ribs in a single day, they're already on pace for another huge event today.

We're proud to support and see our customers creating experiences that bring their communities together while serving up great food.

Big upgrade for the team at Highland House🔥

Yesterday, the UFS team installed a new Henny Penny FPG215 combi oven at Highland House and this equipment is going to make a major impact on their kitchen operations.

With this new oven, their team will be able to:

✔️ Prep menu items up to 40% faster
✔️ Improve consistency across dishes
✔️ Reduce labor and operating costs
✔️ Increase overall kitchen efficiency

One example? They can now cook up to 80 slabs of ribs in just 1 hour and 45 minutes instead of 3 hours, while also eliminating the need to foil wrap every pan. That means significant daily labor savings and reduced material costs as well.
