Exciting local volunteer opportunities are coming up at the East Channel Lighthouse in Munising, Michigan.

This month, HistoriCorps, along with volunteer workforces, will head to the Hiawatha National Forest https://www.fs.usda.gov/r09/hiawatha to restore the historic East Channel Lighthouse. There will be three week-long volunteer sessions between September 6- September 25.

HistoriCorps is looking to recruit volunteers from the area and get the word out about this historic preservation effort. We’re just two days away from Loon Monitoring at Seney with wildlife biologist Dani Fegan. Learn how researchers follow Seney’s loons, what they’ve discovered this season and why this long-running work matters for the future of these remarkable birds.
