This one is for all the parents, no matter what age your little one is! If your baby/child is rocked to sleep, I encourage you to start introducing strong sleep cues in the bedtime routine and remove the rocking. Chances are, the rocking IS the sleep cue and is so soothing that they fall asleep. Let's change it up and get these little ones to be independent sleepers!

Hope you all are enjoying the last bit of Spring Break! We have had a busy two days filled with family, fun and sleep! We had some contact naps, car naps and of course crib naps! Once your little one is an independent sleeper long term, you will be able to understand where you have some wiggle room in your days. I try to have our first nap at home in the bed so we are as well rested as possible before we start an afternoon out. I always like to have the following day planned as a low-key day to have all naps at home, in crib. Getting back on track doesn't have to be difficult.

What your toddler eats during the day and especially the hours leading up to bedtime can impact how they sleep. It is important to monitor what your toddler eats and stray away from caffeines, sugars, etc. We want the digestive system to start to slow as we prepare for a good nights rest. For babies under one whose primary/only nutrition is breastmilk or formula, most parents believe that the last feed of the day should be the greatest amount. However, this can cause the digestive system to disrupt night time sleep. Sundays are for self care. You can introduce a pillow when your child transitions out of the crib, typically around 3 years of age. However, I advise my clients to wait as long as possible before introducing a pillow as some are still considered unsafe. It is important to select the correct type and size of pillow as a full size pillow an adult would use is not safe at this age. In my experience, toddlers don't really have the desire to use a pillow like an adult so holding off as long as possible is best!

Hey all! I have made it to my 30 day goal of posting on instagram!
