THE LIP TIE

A lip tie isn’t just about the lip.

Many people think a lip tie only affects breastfeeding or causes a gap between the front teeth.

But here’s the surprising part:

👉 A restrictive upper lip can make it difficult to create a proper lip seal.

Why does that matter?

Because lips are designed to stay gently together at rest. When they can’t, the body often compensates by breathing through the mouth.

And mouth breathing has been linked to:
• Altered facial growth
• Narrow jaws
• Crowded teeth
• Poor sleep quality
• Reduced oxygen efficiency

Does every lip tie need treatment?

Absolutely not.

A lip tie is only a concern when it’s contributing to functional problems. The key is not what it looks like—it’s what it’s doing.

The real question isn’t:
“Do they have a lip tie?”

It’s:
“Can they breathe, seal their lips, brush their teeth, speak and function properly?”

Function first.

Have you ever considered that a tiny piece of tissue could influence the way a face develops?
