You are invited! We are excited to celebrate the end of another education year for the ISM - Grand Rapids chapter before the summer break.

Our final session will be a networking event Tuesday, April 25th at 5:30 pm. Imagine a book club, but not having to read 400+ pages! Ahead of time, listen to How to Understand Cost & Enable Fact-Based Supplier Relationships w/ Jimmy Anklesaria. We will use the podcast as a guide for our discussion, but our goal is to get everyone together for networking before summer vacation.

Each year ISM Greater Grand Rapids has nominations for the board in the Spring. It is always a time for reflection on the previous education year and the contributions each of us has made to the organization. If you haven’t had a chance, you can see a list of our Board of Director's linked. They really are the ones that make this organization a reality. Each one is a volunteer and through their dedication and hard work, our monthly meetings, informational content on our website, and connection to the community remain strong.

As with any board, we like to keep our leadership fresh and bring new perspectives and we rely on passionate members to help us prosper. If you have nominations for any position, including President, please send them to [email protected]. We mean it! Our board comprises ISM members and we want to continue to be a strong presence in the community, so if you know of a coworker who has an interest or a friend who you think would be a good fit, please pass along our information. The time commitment is usually 30 minutes per month for our board meeting call and when we host events, we aim to have our board attend when their schedule allows.

We plan to meet in late June for our annual summer planning session. Here we lay out our plans for the upcoming education year that will run from September to May. We look forward to serving you for another year and appreciate your membership. Together as a procurement/supply chain community, we are stronger the more we can share and learn from one another.

Jon Bylsma is a partner at Varnum law firm and a member of the firm's executive committee. As a trial attorney, Jon is experienced in trials, arbitrations, and mediations related to supply chain disputes, asset purchase agreements, and other business-related litigation. Jon is also experienced in alternative dispute resolution, including facilitative mediation and arbitration, where he serves as a mediator/arbitrator. Jon was named Grand Rapids “Lawyer of the Year” in the area of Litigation – Banking and Finance in the 2021 and 2023 editions of The Best Lawyers in America.
