Last week, I presented at the Kalamazoo Area Wild Ones about my career path and art’s role in conservation. At the end, a woman in the back asked me, “do you use A.I. in your work?”

My response was “No because I’m a human being and I’m pretty sure can see a lot better than a computer.”

So, to put my money where my mouth is with that statement - here’s a drawing of my watch.

I encourage you to intentionally practice the art of observation every day. Flex those creative brains and see through the facades that are designed to distract. Observation is what ties science and art together and learning how to see has made my life so much more fulfilling.

For the FIFTH YEAR IN A ROW(!) SUMMER SUNDAY BIRDS ARE BACK!!!!!

If you’ve ever been bird curious and are looking for a friendly group of people to show you the ropes and introduce you to some of our feathered friends, now is your chance! We visit a different park every week and are always happy to meet new folks who enjoy being outside on a Sunday morning with us!

*no registration is required for any hike - literally just show up at 8:30ish and look at birds with other human beings!
