Today, we remember the 2,977 victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001.
Recently, our Marketing Director visited New York City and spent time at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, nearly 25 years after waking up to the horrible news and seeing the images on television that Tuesday morning. The visit brought back many memories and prompted her to reflect on that day and what she witnessed as the Twin Towers came down.
“The 9/11 Memorial & Museum is such a beautiful tribute to the lives lost, and the heroism witnessed in New York City, across our country, and around the world that day.
As I reflect on how much changed after the attacks, my heart still breaks for the loss. But I also choose to see the beautiful humanity that arose from tragedy. First responders rushing into collapsing buildings and civilians helping each other escape burning stairwells. The passengers of Flight 93 risking and ultimately losing their own lives to prevent the plane from reaching its intended target, the U.S. Capitol.
Love is stronger than hate. I hope that is something we can all carry with us today and every day.”
May we never forget the lives lost, the heroes who stepped forward, and the humanity that carried us through.
