This Earth Day, Jackie was able to represent Native Edge at the House Oversight Subcommittee during the public comment regarding Data Centers in Michigan. As an environmental organization, we feel it is important to use our platform to stand up against these data centers. Our mission is to work with and support nature, not support short-sighted developments that would undermine and destroy it. We live in “Pure” Michigan, and we believe there is nothing pure about these data centers. They will have huge negative consequences to us and our environment for generations to come if the people do not speak up.

To people in the environmental community, it’s time to take a stand. We all need to act before it’s too late.

Kent Conservation District highlighting one of our design/install projects we did with Calvin Ecosystem Preserve & Native Gardens! This spring, summer, and fall check out this space for a ton of native plant inspiration for your garden. The team at the preserve work hard to keep this space thriving. Grateful we get to work with groups that love native plants and want to educate the community on the many benefits.

Gearing up for the 2026 season means planning and drawing out future planting concepts for native gardens. These gardens provide ecological value while also offering aesthetic, natural beauty that can be designed as art pieces. There are a variety of ways to design native gardens, from naturalistic to formal to more intentional layouts. Each project offers the potential to create unique spaces that work for both people and the environment. The garden photos showcase some of our clients’ intentionally designed native gardens.

We are so excited to share the news that Native Edge is part of the consultant team working on the transformation of Tassell Park in Cascade Michigan! In collaboration with Troyer Group and Fleis & VandenBrink, we are working on plans to revitalize the existing park while making dynamic improvements to transform the space into a local and regional destination.

The plans are still in development and will implement community and stakeholder input as they are refined and explored over the coming months. Stay tuned for updates on this amazing project and thank you to Cascade Charter Township for trusting our team with this incredible community asset!

Well, that is a wrap! Our final installation of the year was completed last week, just in time to avoid the snowstorm. This project sits in a beautiful setting overlooking a small lake with a sauna and cold plunge. Our team created an immersive native garden surrounding the sauna, and as the native plants mature in the coming years, they will provide a natural screen for adjacent properties while adding beauty and wildlife habitat.

We also designed and installed a standout flagstone patio at the front of the sauna area to serve as an additional seating and fireplace location. We finished this project just in time before the snow arrived. With the ground still warm, the plants will settle in nicely and be ready to grow at full strength next spring.

Great job to our Native Edge team who worked so hard to finish this project!
