Recently, WCS had an unexpected visit from a furry visitor, a beautiful dog named Diesel, at our downtown facility. Diesel appeared to be in need of some help. After making sure Diesel had water and a comfortable place to rest out of the summer heat, our team worked to locate his owner. A visit to a local vet revealed no microchip, so the search continued through community outreach and online posts.
Later that evening, his owner, Summer, arrived, and we learned the rest of the story.
Diesel is a service dog whose owner had suffered a medical emergency earlier that day and had been transported to the hospital, separating the two of them. Following his training, Diesel went looking for help and eventually found his way to us.
We were simply happy to help Diesel feel safe and comfortable while he waited and even happier to see him reunited with Summer and learn that she was getting the care she needed.
We’re also happy to highlight Summer’s local baking business, SummaTime Sweet Treat Shop, and encourage our community to give her a follow and support a fellow small business.
