Sunlight Community Church of Port Saint Lucie, Florida shows us that presentation slides can be both accessible and beautiful. Large white letters on a solid black background makes the words of this worship song easy to read. Great job, Sunlight!

If you look close, this is a bathroom stall, not a separate accessible bathroom. There must be a law in Florida that requires a full size accessible stall with a sink in public bathrooms. I can think of many medical conditions and situations with those who need bathroom assistance where having a private sink is a life saver. Maybe someday this will be the norm everywhere. I’m so glad to see intentionality to make nature more accessible. ❤️

At Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes, we’re proud to support accessibility initiatives like our duet bike and track chairs, which create opportunities for everyone to experience the natural wonders of the National Lakeshore.

Our accessibility program was recently featured in the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) Winter 2025 publication: Free-Wheeling (https://www.npca.org/articles/5923-free-wheeling)

Check out this inspiring article to learn more about the incredible efforts to break down barriers in our national parks.

Together, let’s make the great outdoors a place where everyone belongs! 🌿✨

Bleachers are not a very accessible thing but I when I went to my son’s basketball game I was glad to see these cutouts for people who use wheelchairs, with spots for family or friends to sit with them. The railings are an important feature too. Now…to be accessible for me we’ll have to add some backs. Maybe someday!

I was so excited this morning to see this video of someone signing the instructions at my airport gate. Well done, Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

My colleagues at the CRCNA never forget to include a gluten-free option when planning staff appreciation events like today’s donuts and cider day. Providing alternatives without being asked is a quiet way of loving people well.

Including elements that don’t require words increases accessibility. This was such a fun project that I’m excited to share with you. How can you incorporate more images, art, sound and physical movement into your work?

Creative Worship Practices: Notes from the Listening Session

Incorporating aspects of worship that don’t require words increases accessibility. Thrive recently hosted a listening session to learn from churches about how they have incorporated visual examples, physical movement, participatory activities, space, art, music, dance, sign language, and other spiritual practices to draw people to God.
