✈️ On a flight? Keep it in sight.

If you’re charging a device on a plane, keep it where you can see it. Don’t tuck it into a bag or cover it with a blanket—you want to notice any warning signs quickly.

Never charge e-cigarettes or vapes on the plane. Follow the airline’s charging rules, and tell a flight attendant immediately if your device becomes unusually hot, swells, smells strange, or starts smoking.

Safe charging habits travel with you. Keep your device visible and speak up if something seems wrong!

🔋 Feels hot? Stop using it.

A device that feels very hot, starts to swell, smells strange, leaks, smokes, or makes popping or hissing sounds is warning you. Stop using it immediately—these signs can indicate a failing battery and a potential fire hazard.

Don’t plug it back in or try to finish charging. Contact the manufacturer for guidance on safe replacement and disposal.

If the device is smoking or burning, move away, get everyone out, and call 911. Don’t pick it up or try to move it.

Charge on a hard, flat surface like a table, desk, or bare floor, away from anything that can burn. Keep your device uncovered so heat can escape.

Use the cord and charger that came with your device or a replacement approved by the manufacturer.

An incompatible or poorly made charger can supply the wrong power or lack safeguards that help prevent overheating and overcharging. That heat can damage a lithium-ion battery and potentially start a fire.

Just because it fits doesn’t mean it’s safe. Choose charging equipment based on compatibility and manufacturer approval—not just price.

Today marks 25 years since the September 11 attacks—a day that forever changed our nation.

We remember the 2,977 lives lost, the families whose lives were forever changed, and the extraordinary courage of the first responders who ran toward danger to save others.

We honor the firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, military members, medical professionals, and countless others who served that day and in the years that followed.

May we never forget the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the strength and unity shown in the face of tragedy.
