Watch how it's done. Our crane operator sorts incoming steel with precision, keeping prime grade material exactly where it belongs — prime grade. At Grand Rapids Iron & Metal, quality isn't an afterthought. It starts at the pile.

Precision in every pick. Our magnet is moving prime grade steel into a clean, tight pile — keeping grades consistent, reducing contamination, and setting up stronger shipments.

It may look simple, but this level of control is what protects value for our customers. Clean material. Organized yard. Better returns.

Back in the air and back to work. The drone is back, and we’re giving you another look at the yard from above. Every lane, pile, and movement is designed to keep material flowing and customers moving without delay.

From inbound loads to outbound shipments, it’s all about efficiency, safety, and staying ready for whatever comes through the gate.
More footage on the way — we’re just getting started again.

POV: You’re in the operator’s seat. 👓⚙️

This is a first-person look at what it takes to run the shear — precision, timing, and constant awareness. Our material handler captured this view using Meta glasses while processing steel, giving a real behind-the-scenes perspective of the work that keeps material moving.

It’s not just pushing buttons — it’s a craft.

At GRIM, skilled operators + powerful equipment = efficient processing and real value for our customers.

Well… that didn’t go as planned.

Tried to get a little too close for the perfect shot and our grapple had other plans… safe to say the drone lost that battle.

The good news — no one was hurt and operations didn’t miss a beat. The bad news — our drone is heading to the shop for some repairs.

We’ll be back in the air soon… just maybe keeping a little more distance next time.

Making nonferrous bales and keeping material moving.

From above, you can see the precision and power of our baler in action — processing heavy scrap quickly and efficiently. This is what allows GRIM to handle large volumes, reduce turnaround times, and keep our customers’ material flowing without delay.

The faster we process, the faster you get paid. It’s that simple.

Built for volume. Built for efficiency. Built for our customers.

Our newest crane operator has been putting in the work and it’s starting to show. In this clip, he’s cleaning up the yard and prepping space for our torchers — a small task that plays a big role in keeping the yard organized, safe, and efficient.

Good operators aren’t made overnight. It takes focus, patience, and pride in the craft to run these machines the right way. We’re proud to see the progress and excited to keep building a team of skilled operators here at GRIM.

From above, it’s just a pile of steel. On the ground, it’s precision work. Our crane operators are carefully sorting heavy melt steel to ensure clean grades, efficient processing, and maximum value.

Every pick, every movement, and every load matters — because proper sorting is what drives strong returns and smooth shipments.

At GRIM, it’s not just about moving material. It’s about handling it the right way. Heavy steel. Skilled operators. Built for efficiency.

Behind every load is a system built for efficiency.

From the moment material hits our yard to the time it’s processed and shipped, our team works with precision to keep things moving safely and efficiently. The right equipment, the right operators, and the right processes — all designed to maximize value for our customers.

At GRIM, it’s not just about moving scrap. It’s about doing it better.
