A few days into 2026, I’m still reflecting on our accomplishments in 2025 and what it revealed.
At its core, last year was about leadership development in real conditions. Not theory. Not trends. But equipping leaders, organizations, and communities to navigate complexity across AI, environmental justice, public policy, and systems change.
Through Scales Consulting, the work showed up in many forms. From being on the ground in Memphis, working alongside the NAACP on data center strategy and community resistance, to engaging with elected officials in Washington, D.C., translating community realities into policy-level conversations.
Here in Michigan, we strengthened grassroots leadership and advocacy in partnership with NAACP Greater Grand Rapids, Climate Action Campaign and C4, and welcomed partners from the Greenlining Institute to Michigan to share best practices in equitable community development and investment.
In 2025, we also hosted the first-ever convening bringing together technologists, public officials, educators, health care leaders, and social justice advocates creating space to inform communities on how AI is already showing up, how it will continue to evolve, and to collectively strategize around responsible and equitable AI implementation. 🤖⚖️
The work also took us to Atlanta and Milwaukee for environmental justice conferences and leadership trainings, reaffirming the power of cross-sector learning and shared accountability. 🌍
Across every speaking engagement , executive coaching, facilitation, convenings, and strategy sessions we pushed beyond performative commitments toward measurable impact, responsible implementation, and real systems change. We elevated critical conversations around data centers, energy demand, and digital infrastructure, ensuring innovation is paired with environmental justice, community voice, and long-term responsibility. ⚡🏭
One truth became increasingly clear: I’m energized by the intersection of education and healthy skepticism. We can’t achieve sustainable, equitable impact without leaders who are informed and willing to ask hard questions about power, incentives, and consequences. 📚🔍
As we move further into 2026, Scales Consulting is focused on deepening partnerships, expanding our leadership and AI platforms, and continuing to equip organizations and communities to lead boldly while advancing environmental justice advocacy and equitable, responsible implementation.
