Story time with Greg:
When my daughter was five or six, we were playing a kids board game and I thought, “I should make a pot of coffee.”
I told my girl what I was going to do and that I would be right back.
As I prepped the coffee pot, I noticed the trash was full.
“I’ll empty this real quick.”
Take the bag out and head to the garage- no trash bin. Hmmmm.
I must have left it at the curb last night.
Go get the trash bin at the end of the driveway.
Noticed that there was a lot of grass in the driveway cracks.
“I can pull a few of these real quick.”
My daughter, 30 minutes later, standing over me seated at the end of the driveway,
“Dad, what are you doing? Are we going to finish the game?”
Me 😳
Oh yeah.
Stay focused. Stay on task.
Talk out loud to yourself to remind yourself what is importance and first.
Leave the rest behind.
My daughter deserved better than that on that morning. I needed to remind myself that she was most important and first.
