GRANT!

Grateful to know you and share your story for ‘The Faces Of Life’ , MEN ON A MISSION series!

Meet Grant Carlile...

"I am in perpetual reflection toward alignment of self. Valuing speed in the short term and the practice of patience in the long term; challenges are my catalyst for growth. Growing up around fields, woods, and freshwater lakes, I was frequently exposed to dirt, leaves, fallen branches, and new growth. I would go out into the woods and explore the spaces around me. The nature of what I found I trusted, and I was curious to build maps in my mind of the layout of the land, and analyze the patterns of the leaves, shells, and rocks I found.

I am grateful for my health, my loved ones, the opportunities I have cultivated, and the extraordinary experiences that have come to pass for me. In 2011 I was able to meet the president of Ireland from a hand-written letter I sent - he graduated from Indiana University with his masters and at that time I was doing the same thing. The attitude of imagining possibilities through visioning an outcome, then becoming the person required to fulfill that vision, is core to who I am.

I am resilient, steadfast, and resolved.

Day-to-day I am building confidence in those around me through guidance, leadership, and servitude. What that looks like is facilitating great teams and organizing events inside one of my three big buckets of work I enjoy: running, business development, and robotics.

A few of the roles I have served in are: Chief Operating Officer, Executive Director, Information Architect, Founder, Director of Production, Managing Director, Board Member, and Volunteer. I know that these titles are a result of my work, and I know that the titles only have meaning because of the skills and experience I bring to the role. One way I go about my work is to set grand visions of what can be, and then work to create the reality that will bring about that vision. When inside an organization it’s working with others to clarify their roles, goals, and support. When regarding myself, I work to become the person I need to be to execute the vision. I love to have fun while doing hard work, and I find that doing what I love tends to breed both hard work and fun.

The hard skills and durable skills are less of a polarity for me; I see them as pathways to helping me achieve my goals. Whether I am individually achieving a personal goal or I am bringing people together to achieve a shared goal, employing my hard skills and durable skills enable me to focus on the task at hand, the problems we’re choosing, and ultimately build confidence in myself and my team. My endeavors and skills are vast yet finite so I enjoy the challenge of learning and becoming.

What drives me is not being able to finish the statement “I wish I would have…” With so much to do in the world, following my curiosity and gratitude with love helps me stay aligned. Using self-reflection as a tool for understanding my priorities, I’m driven to add value to the world.

Through me life flows and further becoming more me everyday creates more value in the ways I care about. My decisions are important to me, so constant reflection and feedback provides me the opportunity to align my possible futures. I love working shoulder-to-shoulder with people who are passionate about the work they’re doing. So what that looks like for me is to look within myself at the value of my priorities, and find others who want to solve those problems in the world. By surrounding myself with more and more of those people, I’m able to better understand myself, and the world around me. This concept is central to my curiosity and gratitude: understanding myself, understanding the world, and understanding myself inside the world. The practice of understanding drives me and guides me.

One of the tools that has served me in life is running. It helps keep me gauge and maintain my level of health, gets me outside, and frees my mind to expand my world. Running has helped me travel to places I had no other reason to go, and as a child running carried me around my neighborhood to explore. I ran my first organized running event when I was 12. I was fascinated by the event itself. I thought, how did all of these people arrive at the same place, on the same date, and we're all gonna run the same route!? From then on I got deeper into the running world and the possibilities of where running could take me. I started with the 5k distance and eventually did a 10k when I was 16. I ran my first marathon when I was 20, and this year I'll run my first hundred mile race at the age of 39. Though running in races isn't the tool, it's an element of the tool that is running. When I set out to achieve a new race distance, it’s in preparation that I must become a person who can run that distance. The Running community is open, inviting, and accepting. The people who have fought the same battles I have, the people who continue to strive to grow personally like I do, and the people who seek adventure in new ways like I do. Running is this instrument of the self, that as you continue to employ, you begin to understand that the primary body part used in running is not your legs, it's your brain. For that reason, I'm so grateful to have learned the art and the skill of running. It served me as a tool and instrument in learning about myself, about the world, and about myself in the world. I recommend running to anyone who wants to grow as a human being, to reach deeper into yourself than you ever have, and to build everlasting self-confidence."

Meet Clinton Bell...

"I am a man who learned how to turn survival into structure.
I am someone who came from environments that condition people to shrink their imagination, accept limitations, and mistake adaptation for identity. I refused. I became obsessed with understanding the systems underneath life, communication, power, spirituality, human behavior, money, suffering, influence, and transformation itself.

I am a communicator before anything else. Not just with words, but with energy, framing, symbolism, emotion, and presence. I study how ideas move people. How narratives shape reality. How belief becomes behavior. How attention becomes destiny.

I am a bridge between worlds that usually do not speak to each other. Street and academia. spirituality and neuroscience. Pain and discipline. Philosophy and ex*****on. Redemption and strategy. I can sit with community leaders, former gang members, university professors, nonprofit executives, businessmen, artists, recovering addicts, and spiritual seekers because I understand the language underneath the language.

I am someone who believes identity is programmable. That the nervous system can be retrained. That suffering can become fuel. That attention directs reality. That the mind is not just thinking about the world, it is filtering and constructing the experience of it.

I am building systems, businesses, books, and movements that are all connected by one central idea:
People are more powerful than they have been conditioned to believe.
The world knows me as CeCe.
Some know me by Clinton Bell
Some know me by my pseudonym Lux
But underneath all names is a man trying to become fully aligned with his highest nature while helping others remember theirs.

Why do you do what you do?
Because I know what it feels like to almost disappear into circumstance. I know what it feels like to carry labels, mistakes, survival patterns, emotional chaos, and environments that psychologically train people to expect less from themselves. I know what it feels like to look around and realize many people are unconsciously trapped inside mental prisons they did not build but continue reinforcing every day.

What drives me is proving that transformation is real, measurable, and transferable.
Not treating this like it’s motivational fantasy, but actual transformation.

I do what I do because I realized communication can change the trajectory of a human life. That we actually have wealth inside us and it's the ability to communicate effectively. Being able to unlock that gift has been my path to building a life that I am proud of. One conversation can interrupt a destructive identity loop. One belief can reorganize behavior. One opportunity can restore dignity. One environment can completely change what the nervous system thinks is possible.

That is why I care about storytelling, systems, mentorship, communication, reentry, branding, philosophy, psychology, spirituality, and technology. They are all leverage points that shape human perception and therefore human outcomes.
Whether I am speaking to residents at Dismas House, building LuxEthos, writing Command Reality, designing LuxSpeak, helping someone rebuild credit, or speaking on a stage, I am ultimately doing the same thing:

Helping people regain authorship over their lives. Driving force behind what you do? The driving force is liberation through awareness. I believe most people are living reactively instead of consciously. Their nervous systems are programmed by trauma, culture, fear, repetition, insecurity, algorithms, social conditioning, and survival. Then they mistake those patterns for “self.”

I want to expose the architecture underneath that.
My driving force is understanding the hidden mechanics behind human behavior and then using that understanding to create freedom, power, discipline, connection, and elevation.
Part of me is driven by redemption.
Part of me is driven by legacy.
Part of me is driven by proving that intelligence, leadership, beauty, spirituality, and greatness can emerge from places society overlooks. But deeper than all of that, I think I am driven by alignment.
Alignment between thought and action.
Alignment between spirit and body.
Alignment between potential and ex*****on.
Alignment between who someone is and who they have been conditioned to think they are.
I do not just want success.
I want coherence.
And I think that is why people are drawn to me.
Because even while I am still evolving, they can feel that I am genuinely trying to unify all parts of myself instead of hiding from them.

I do not believe people are one thing.
I think human beings are layered, adaptive, contradictory, emotional, divine, wounded, intelligent, dangerous, beautiful systems in motion. I think people deserve the chance to evolve beyond the worst thing they have done, beyond the labels placed on them, and beyond the identities they built in survival mode.
I want the world to know that there are people like me who came from difficult places and chose consciousness instead of destruction.

I want people to know that power does not have to look cold.
Intelligence does not have to look arrogant. Masculinity does not have to disconnect from emotion.
Spirituality does not have to reject science.
Transformation does not have to erase the past.
My scars are not contradictions to my growth.
They are evidence of it.
Everything I build, books, businesses, speeches, systems, mentorship, content, is ultimately part of one larger mission:
To help people remember that they are not fixed beings.
They are adaptive systems capable of rebuilding themselves.

Something that I would want to let the world know the most is that we are all perfectly imperfect. That encompasses everything here. We are not meant to be perfect but to grow and learn and become. That's what's perfect. The Creator’s design.

I have so much more to say...

I am not in support of madness! I STAND FOR LOVE- NEVER HATE!!! Even signs that- are true, yet speak ill of an individual- it makes me sick physically.

This was March 28th. Seeing the people out, speaking their minds, I AM IN SUPPORT of THIS!!! Protesting!!! FOR SOOOO MANY DIFFERENT REASONS!!!

Every single day- this life seems to be more and more mindblowing! Everyday, my soul is troubled when facing the reality of our country. (I know, keep my eyes on Jesus- and Ephesians 6:12- For we are not fighting against flesh-and blood, but against evil rulers and authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.) I can't turn a blind eye. While my faith is solid. So is my convictions.

I am proud to be an American, but I am not proud of what AMERICA is doing...

I function with the goal of "Let all that you do, be done in love.
(1 Corinthians 16:14)

I will continue to operate with LOVE. To do my part to be the change I want to see in this world!

Here are a few of the photos from the protest in South Bend, Indiana.
