Governor Brad Little joined U.S. Forest Service Chief Tom Schultz and Idaho Department of Lands Director Dustin Miller on 12/5/25 to renew and expand Idaho’s Shared Stewardship agreement with the federal government — a move aimed at increasing the pace and scale of forest management across the state.
The new plan deepens joint efforts to boost timber production, accelerate wildland restoration, and expand forest health projects on national forests and adjacent state and private lands. The new terms dictate that annual sustainable timber sales are expected to reach up to 100 million board feet within five years — doubling current output. That increase will be achieved through the use of the Good Neighbor Authority, a program allowing state agencies to carry out forest management work on federal lands.

Blake Manley along with experts Mark Mahon, Jim Shepherd and Heath Severson explain the role that timber harvesting plays in the health of our forests before and after natural disasters. Thank you for creating a video that creates a full picture of the importance of timber harvesting and illuminates the industry’s goal of creating and maintaining a healthy and thriving forest environment.
This great video highlights important needs of thinning to prevent fires from becoming large areas of complete devastation, decreasing the time between natural disaster and the salvage of dead timber, helping the forest to heal and regrow after natural disasters, mitigating the loss of habitat, being good stewards of the resources our national forest holds by being a part of the solution for healthy forests.

Often we talk about preventing catastrophic wildfire, which is critical. However, what do we do after a burn has taken place? Here is one solution the forest...

Here at the Oregon Logging Conference in Exhibit Hall Booths 300, 301, & 302 we had our faith renewed in good people with good manners! While talking with few customers, we noticed two little girls took some candy and in return left something on the table. It turned out to be these really sweet thank you notes!
Thank you to them and their parents for their gracious manners!
