🌿🚗 Aiken, here’s something exciting from the tire world!

We just saw this article from Tire Technology International about Pirelli launching a new standard production tire made with over 70% bio-based and recycled materials. 

Cool Takeaways You Might Like:

This isn’t just a concept — it’s a tire you can actually buy, built for real cars. 

It uses things like Forest Stewardship Council-certified natural rubber, recycled steel (instead of all new steel), and silica derived from rice husk (a by-product) in the tread. 

There are also bio-circular polymers (monomers made from used cooking oil or pyrolysis oil) and bio-resins used to help balance wet / dry performance. 

Why It Matters for Aiken Drivers:

More sustainable materials = potentially fewer environmental impacts from production and disposal.

These innovations often lead to technologies that improve tire longevity, grip, and performance, which helps with safety (especially when we get those summer rains).

Let’s roll into some random but ridiculously interesting facts about tires!

🚗 1. Tires aren't naturally black!
They start out white thanks to natural rubber. The black color comes from carbon black, which makes them stronger and longer-lasting. Stylish and smart!

🦈 2. Tire treads are inspired by nature.
Some high-performance tire patterns are based on shark skin for better grip in wet conditions. Who knew your tires were part predator?

🌍 3. The world’s largest tire weighs over 12 tons!
It’s in Michigan and was originally a Ferris wheel at the 1964 World’s Fair. Now that’s a spare you can’t fit in your trunk.

💨 4. Your tires rotate more than your playlist.
At highway speeds, tires rotate about 850 times every mile. That’s a lot of spins—imagine the tread-mill workout!

🔥 5. Airless tires exist!
Yep, there are experimental designs that never go flat. We’re basically in the future.
