FBAR Filing Deadline: October 15, 2026
Do you have foreign bank accounts, investments, or other financial assets outside the United States?
The October 15 deadline for filing the 2025 FBAR (FinCEN Form 114) is approaching.
U.S. persons with foreign financial accounts exceeding a combined value of $10,000 at any time during 2025 may be required to file an FBAR, even if the accounts did not generate any income.
In addition to FBAR reporting, it is important to review other foreign asset disclosure requirements, including:
β’ PFIC Reporting (Form 8621): Foreign mutual funds, certain foreign ETFs, and other qualifying foreign investments.
β’ Foreign Financial Assets (Form 8938): Certain foreign financial accounts, stocks, and investments that meet applicable reporting thresholds.
β’ Foreign Bank and Investment Accounts: Including certain foreign retirement accounts and financial assets subject to FBAR reporting.
FBAR, PFIC, and FATCA reporting are separate compliance requirements, and each may have different filing obligations and deadlines.
With the deadline just around the corner, make sure your foreign accounts and investments are properly reviewed and reported to avoid potential penalties.
