As a Natural Therapeutics Specialist, I offer more than just a bodywork treatment. The philosophical foundations of my training are in Natural Therapeutics, or Nature Cure. Similar to my perspectives on childbirth, I believe that our bodies know how to heal themselves and that the closer we get to a relaxed state, the more easily healing happens. I also believe that the basic tenets of wellness are good nutrition, being outside in sunlight and fresh air, moderate exercise, drinking good-quality water, sufficient rest and doing things that we believe in. In addition, bodywork can be very helpful to restoring and maintaining wellness. I offer unique treatments catered to each client and their health concerns. I love to teach and feel relatively natural at it. I like to offer classes and workshops that incorporate many ways of learning and knowing as well as hands-on experience. I like to include something creative as well as a wealth of information. I can teach by request or sometimes will schedule classes. My offerings have a wide range of topics, but include such things as basic permaculture, basic herbal medicine/plant knowledge, movement, introduction to some bodywork modalities, basics of fertility and conception and conscious gestation and birth, food preservation techniques and more. Birth is a natural process. I am currently pursuing my Childbirth Educator certification through Childbirth International. Drawing from my extensive studies and clients' experiences, I will offer evidence-based classes for new or growing families in the childbearing years. Over the past couple of years, I have been helping found and co-produce multidisciplinary events and retreats often composed of music, dance, art, diverse locally-sourced education and cultivating community. My partner and I are currently co-producing an amazing three day weekend event Sept 8-11, 2011 at Earthdance in the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts. It is going to be a not-to-miss experience with many diverse teachers and opportunities to learn, engage, move and create. The event is called WEAVE.
