🚁🌿 Got a piece of ground that’s difficult to manage?

Maybe it’s too steep for conventional equipment.

Maybe access is limited.

Maybe the ground is too wet or sensitive.

Maybe it’s an odd-shaped area, a vineyard, a duck club, a hillside, or vegetation tucked somewhere that’s simply difficult to reach.

Those are the projects I want to see.

One of my favorite parts of Ag Drone Concepts is looking at a property and figuring out whether drone technology can provide a practical solution.

And I’ll be the first to tell you a drone isn’t the answer to every job.

But sometimes it’s exactly the tool that’s been missing.

🚁💨 DRONE MYTH vs. FACT

❌ MYTH: If a drone is spraying from the air, the product is just going to blow everywhere.

✅ FACT: Drift is a consideration with every spray application and managing it is part of making a professional application.

With a drone, there are multiple factors an applicator has to consider:

🌬️ Wind speed & direction
💧 Droplet size
🚁 Flight height
⚡ Flight speed
🌡️ Weather conditions
🎯 Target location
🌿 Surrounding sensitive areas
🧪 Product label requirements

Flying lower doesn’t mean drift disappears, and using a drone doesn’t automatically make an application drift-proof.

The operator still has to make good decisions.

Sometimes the right decision is adjusting the application.

Sometimes it’s waiting for conditions to improve.

And sometimes it’s simply not flying.

The technology is impressive but knowing when and how to use it is what matters.

🚁🌾 This business was never just about flying drones.

The drone is the exciting part people see.

What I enjoy even more is everything that comes with it.

Meeting growers and landowners.
Walking new properties.
Learning different crops.
Solving problems.
Trying new technology.
Building relationships throughout the agricultural community.

One week I might be looking at a vineyard.

The next could be rice, a duck club, steep mountain terrain, or an invasive vegetation project.

Every conversation opens another door and every job teaches me something.

There’s still a lot I want to accomplish with Ag Drone Concepts, and we’re just getting started. 🚁

🚁🌾 When does a drone application actually make sense?

Not every acre needs a drone.

But there are situations where aerial application can offer a very different option:

⛰️ Steep or variable terrain
💧 Wet or soft ground
🌿 Areas with limited access
🍇 Vineyards, orchards & specialty crops
🌾 Odd-shaped treatment areas
🌲 Vegetation and habitat management
⏱️ Tight application windows
🚜 Situations where minimizing ground traffic matters

The conversation shouldn’t start with:

“How do we use a drone?”

It should start with:

“What problem are we trying to solve?”

From there, we can determine whether a drone is actually the right tool for the job.

That’s the part of this business I enjoy most, looking at a challenging property and figuring out the best way to approach it.

🌱🚁 One takeaway from yesterday: agriculture never stops evolving.

Spending the day at Syngenta field trial event was a great opportunity to see some of the work happening behind the scenes before new products and technologies ever reach the farm.

Seed genetics. Yield potential. Crop quality. Crop protection. Application technology.

There are a lot of different pieces that have to come together to produce a successful crop.

Being there with Ag Drone Concepts also gave me the opportunity to have some great conversations with growers and industry professionals about where drone technology fits into that equation.

That’s one of my favorite parts about attending events like this.

I may be there to talk about drones but I usually leave having learned something myself.

Agriculture keeps evolving, and so will we.

🌱🚁 Out in the field with Syngenta today!

Ag Drone Concepts is set up as a vendor at today’s Syngenta field trial event, and it’s great to be surrounded by growers, industry reps, and others who are working every day to move agriculture forward.

Today is all about seeing the results in the field—looking at different seed products, crop performance, yield potential, quality, and the research that goes into helping growers get more from every acre.

For me, events like this are also a great opportunity to listen.

What challenges are growers facing? Where is the industry headed? And where can technologies like agricultural drones fit into that future?

There’s a lot happening in agriculture right now, from genetics and crop protection to precision application and automation. It’s exciting to have Ag Drone Concepts be part of that conversation.

❌ MYTH: A drone only sprays the top of the canopy.

✅ FACT: Properly configured drone applications can use rotor-generated downwash to help carry spray droplets into and through the canopy.

But here’s the important part…

Owning a spray drone doesn’t automatically guarantee good canopy pe*******on.

Results depend on the entire application:

💨 Rotor downwash
💧 Droplet size
🚁 Flight height & speed
🌿 Canopy density
💦 Application volume
🌬️ Weather conditions
🎯 The target you’re trying to reach

That’s why vineyard applications have to be approached differently than spraying an open field or bare ground.

The question shouldn’t simply be:

“Can a drone spray my vineyard?”

The better question is:

“Can we configure the application to get the product where it needs to go?”

That’s the conversation I’m interested in having with growers.

Technology is only as good as the application strategy behind it.

❌ MYTH: More gallons per acre automatically means a better spray application.

✅ FACT: More carrier volume does not automatically equal better results.

The goal of any application is to deliver the correct amount of product to the intended target with the coverage required for that particular product and pest.

That’s why application decisions can involve:

💧 Carrier volume
💦 Droplet size
🎯 Target coverage
🌿 Canopy or vegetation density
🚁 Flight speed and height
🌬️ Weather conditions
🧪 Product label requirements

Drone and other aerial applications can operate at lower carrier volumes than many ground applications because they’re different application systems.

But lower volume isn’t automatically better either.

The correct GPA depends on the product, target, crop, conditions, equipment, and most importantly the label.

It’s not about putting the most water on an acre.

It’s about making the right application.

Did you know? An agricultural drone doesn’t need a perfectly square field to work efficiently.

In fact, some of the most challenging properties are where drones can really shine.

Whether it’s:
🌲 Tree lines
⛰️ Steep hillsides
🚜 Irregular field shapes
🌿 Narrow access roads
💧 Wet or sensitive ground

Every mission is planned around the property—not the other way around.

No two jobs are exactly alike, and that’s why every project starts with understanding the land, the goals, and the best way to get the job done safely and effectively.

Technology is a powerful tool, but it’s the planning and experience behind it that make the difference.

🚁 Before the First Flight

People often see the drone in the air…

What they don’t see is everything that happens before takeoff.

Every mission starts with planning:
📍 Evaluating the property
🌤️ Checking weather conditions
⚠️ Identifying obstacles and hazards
📋 Reviewing the application plan
🛡️ Completing the required safety and regulatory checks

The flight itself is only one part of the job.

Good preparation leads to safer operations, more accurate applications, and better results for the customer.

That’s the standard I bring to every project.
