What I offer to you and your child is more than just childcare. I offer an extended family - a support system that nurtures all of us. It is often difficult for working parents to balance all the commitments and responsibilities in their lives. I offer peace of mind where your child is concerned. I offer a safe, loving environment where your child is accepted, loved, nurtured, and stimulated. I st
rive to meet your child's physical, intellectual, social, and emotional needs. I feel children learn best in a creative, natural learning environment. Your child will learn everyday by being part of our extended family. Patience, sharing, responsibility, compassion for self and others, communication, and teamwork will be practiced through participating in the daily routine of our home. I have 25+ years experience in childcare. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education and Development. And, over 600 continuing education clock hours in the Early Childhood field. I am always current on my infant/child CPR and First Aid certification. My experience ranges from raising my own children to having had a home day care from 1989 until 2010. During this time, I took care of four to eight children ranging in age from five weeks to twelve years. In 1986/87, I was a lead teacher in the infant/toddler room at Rainbow Path Daycare in Libertyville. In addition, I was an instructor for three and four year olds at Downer's Grove Montessori (1987-89). In 1989, I opened my own home day care. In 2011 I accepted a teaching position with Bright Horizons at Kemper Lakes. In Spring of 2013 I re-opened my home day care. I am a member of Chicago Metropolitan Association for the Education of Young Children (CAEYC) as well as the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). I also am a past member of Lake County Home Day Care Network, where I served on the board as the field trip coordinator (1998 to 2002) as well as president (2001 to 2005). This group consists of approximately 100 home day care providers throughout Lake County. From 2000 until 2002 I was chosen as a mentor for the YWCA's family childcare program. I am very active in these groups, attending continuing education workshops and classes sponsored by them, as well as teaching classes. I also attend childcare conferences throughout the year to continue my education to constantly improve my day care. I will use my knowledge to offer stimulating, developmental activities when your child is ready for them. They include music, outdoor play, sensory activities (finger-painting, playdough, sand and water play, etc.), arts and crafts, pre-math and pre-reading skills, story time, building materials (blocks, legos, etc.), dramatic play (dress-up, dolls, kitchen, etc.), field trips, and lots of laughter, hugs, and love. Our field trips include going to places such as the library, parks, and occasionally a day trip to places such as Lamb's Farm, the zoo, museums, etc. When we travel by car, I always use proper safety precautions such as child safety seats. My only forms of discipline are distraction and timeout. I have also found the word "NO" works very well. I use positive reinforcement as much as possible. The food served for snack and lunch is always healthy. I only serve 100% juice and 2% or whole milk, low-sugar or no sugar items and no artificial sweeteners, and lots of whole grain, fresh fruits, and vegetables. I also serve protein and bread items at lunch and snack. My menu's are checked monthly by a representative and partly reimbursed by the State of Illinois. Therefore, lowering the cost of my program and bettering my program for your child. I am looking forward to working with you to provide the best care for your child.
