Good Tuesday morning from the Hudstead. I finally sorted out my milking issues with our new goat, lady. It turns out I had hoses on our machine all hooked up wrong.

Once I figured out those issues, I was able to get about 2 cups from one side. I’ll be milking her twice a day and I should net about 1 to 1 1/2 quarts a day; just for reference our lotion requires a half gallon per batch.

I’m having to use the machine because she has small teats that don’t lend themselves to Hand milking. A lesson I learned about three days too late. She is however, great on the milking stand.

Hopefully our other four does will give birth in November or October and will be milking everybody this way.

We’ve also taken the step to get us a small milking room for the property.

Very exciting times here at the Hudstead.
