Do you constantly hear people talking about bone broth and collagen and all of the wonderful things it's supposed to do for your guts, hair, nails, teeth and skin? 😁πŸ’ͺπŸ’…
I'm gonna share my favorite, super fast, extra delicious and body fueling FRESH FOOD SECRET... I keep a ziploc bag of COMPOST AND BONES in my freezer!!!
Remember I told you yesterday that I invest in my health with quality meat? I prefer to buy BONE IN cuts. I like to get every bit of value I can for my investment and bones from happy animals makes delicious stock. Once you try your own, you will wonder how you ever used the stuff from the box...
I keep a gallon ziploc in my freezer where I store onion ends, celery, ugly garlic, carrots, thyme sprigs, and then BONES!!
Once my bag is stuffed, I throw the whole mess in the crockpot with a splash of ACV and a generous grind of pink salt and leave in on low for about 72 hours. I have to add water back a couple of times but for the most part I ignore it.
Then I cool, strain, and pour it into silicone muffin pans sitting on a cookie sheet and pop it in the freezer - giving me the easy pucks you see here.
Simple strategies like a place to put things that really give you the maximum ROI on your investment can change your shouldas to ACTION. Funny way to look at table scraps eh?

Today's FRESH FOOD strategy is for my other ascending entrepreneurs! I see you out there HUSTLING! Feed that body!! πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ
Now, I am not going to lie to you... I started planning this one last night. I had to defrost that gorgeous piece of grass fed beef, I swoon!
In my history as an entrepreneur, I have had financial peaks and valleys. This condition intersecting with my deep commitment to feeding my son a high quality diet has taught me to be a bit of a squirrel. 🐿🐿🐿
Any time I go to a farmers market, on site farm stand, the butcher, or even a grocery store that carries nice cuts of meat - if I am in an income peak, I pick up whatever looks delicious and amusing.
If I dont plan to prepare it in the next 2 days, I throw in the freezer. It's like a little savings account and makes the best use of my time when I have access to the products I prefer.
I put it out to thaw last night and it made me super charged in the morning to get that bad oscar in the crock pot. My house will smell delicious all day and I wont lie, it makes me feel like a bad ass.
I'll serve it tonight with some roasted potatoes and eat the left overs into the weekend. Oh goodness, did I just save myself more time!?

Mmmm... veggies!! This week we are going to focus on the intersection of FRESH FOOD and time management. 🍎πŸ₯©πŸŒ½
How many times have you gotten all excited about a bunch of beautiful produce at the grocery store and by the end of the week you are staring down an impressive pile of soon to be compost in your fridge? The unopened box of now liquified salad seems sad and daunting. I mean, you always order salad in restaurants...
Then you tell yourself it's a waste so you stop buying fresh produce but then you don't eat veggies at home, so you get all excited the next time you go to the grocery store because you are really really going to eat veggies this time... promise promise!!
And the cycle goes round and round. I'm not gonna kid you, statistics show that Americans throw away more than half of all of the food we grow. Half!!
In order to eat veggies and combat food waste, the answer is fairly straight forward. Prep your veggies and put them in resealable containers and single servings AS SOON AS YOU GET HOME.
This represents a box of salad, a red pepper, a cucumber, a thingie of celery and a shallot. I started with my Mason jar salads and chopped the rest for dippers. They get packed in school lunch and we like to eat a good bit of dip - the buffalo chicken dip at Safeway is a staple for us.
It took maybe 10 minutes for what you see here. We go through prepped foods like wild fire!! But if all of this was whole veggies in the bottom of a drawer - the likelihood of it being enjoyed is greatly reduced.
If you catch yourself feeling overwhelmed by the idea of another chore right when you get home from the grocery store, you may seriously consider my timer challenge. Is 10 or 15 minutes worth your time of your family veggie consumption sky rockets?

In our final installation on CLOBBERING decision fatigue by following someone else's method, let's get serious about LUNCH πŸŽπŸ§€πŸ₯“
I am fortunate to live with the fantastic advantage of mothering a gluten and soy intolerant son. We definately indulge in gluten free bunny grahams and almond based crackers but the lack of delicious and not insanely expensive bread options taught us to live without it a long time ago.
This also means that school lunch is not always compatible with his needs, so I had to get used to packing lunch.
I hated the idea of a zillion baggies, individual packaging is expensive, not eco chic and again - not a ton of options within our parameters. The whole thing made me nervous and overwhelmed. And then, I decided to implement someone elses method!!

I am IN LOVE with their product and lunch packing method. It's easier than a bento because it gives you a framework for balanced food selection
I fill all the rectangles and I am done! I do my best to get it packed the night before but often I am pulling his planetbox out of the dishwasher at 5am. Even with his double snack requirement, I can complete this chore in less than 10 minutes. He tells me that he has the best lunch in the entire third grade... I swoon!
I am now transferring packing and grocery list planning responsibilities for lunch to my Cub Scout.
He is ready to assert more independence around food selection. It's rad!!
By giving him a simple framework and a history of examples, he has the foundation for success. He has packed some wacky lunches but I am excited for his growth.
I guess you could say I am loving him by teaching him that not everything has to be built from scratch. Sometimes faithful adherence to someone elses method is the path to contentment and a full tummy.

At the very heart of CRUSHING DECISION FATIGUE is taking action. I would be completely remiss in a week of following someone elses system if I didnt mention one of my most beloved efficiency gurus 🀩 David Allen. 🀩
One of the hallmarks of his "Getting Things Done" method is the 2 minute rule. It states that if a task takes you less than 2 minutes that you should TAKE ACTION and just take care of it now.
Over and over again in the world of efficiency we learn that TURNING KNOWLEDGE INTO ACTION is where time management begins.
Thinking about tasks, worrying about them, adding them to a task list... losing sleep, being stressed, feeling OVERWHELMED all waste your time and energy.
So the big secret is that no one wants to admit is that all of the thinking, worrying, rewriting, not sleeping, being stressed and overwhelmed will waste a LOT MORE than 2 minutes. A LOT!!
Two minute tasks are things like opening the mail, sorting dirty clothes in the hamper, putting a dish in the dishwasher, clearing the trash out of your car at the fuel station... ya know, the kind of things that get ignored all the time but create the mess that makes us feel out control and even EMBARRASED!!

You are gonna spend the time one way or another. HOW you spend it is up to you. Spend 2 minutes or less getting things done and you will be high fiving yourself and feeling so awesome that you will WANT to kill your task list - because it will give you confidence that you can.
Delay and... well, you know what you get. More of everything you claim you don't want.
Simple strategies like using someone else's method and getting really honest with yourself about how long tasks take can change the way you spend your time. Do you have 2 minutes?

I like to think there is an artist simmering inside of all of us and that life is the journey of finding one's most enjoyable media in which to create.
Today's SOMEONE ELSES METHOD in our battle against decision fatigue is for those that want to cultivate themselves as painters. The wonderful clued me into the fascinating concept of The Daily Painting movement. I ABSOLUTELY adore when people grace me with these little secrets to their success!! Color me happy to learn from their experience. 🀩🀩🀩
She shared with me how she used the method for a long time, producing a large volume of small paintings while building her confidence and refining her skills.
Not only is Begona more prolific as a painter, you should see the bold decisions she is making with her new series. They are at the TD Bank in the Village. Just gorgeous!!
Wouldnt it be fun if we could start to think of our daily workout as anything that builds the self and not a punishment for how we eat? What if feeding the soul by spending time doing something that we truly love was the path to real health?

Still focused on BREAKING DECISION FATIGUE, today we talk about why "everyone is doing it." If you feel like you are living in a sea of shifting clutter, I promise you are not alone!!. 🀒🀒🀒
The minimalism movement is on the rise because people are tired of STUFF. Marie Kondo has a whole TV show because people are tired of stuff and dont know what to do about it. No one taught us.
See, you arent alone. Your stuff isnt unique. Your clutter isnt worse. We all struggle with it. Even Marie talks about years of moving around things - things that didnt bring her joy.
In the spirit of "FOLLOWING SOMEONE ELSES METHOD" I too am participating with Marie Kondo. I borrowed the Audio book through Libby, the Fairfax County Library choice of app for borrowing digital materials.
We are planning the first step with clothes this weekend. I tend to think I am quite tidy. I cant wait to learn a thing or two by following someone elses method.
Are you following Marie Kondo? Have you started using her method? Any tips for a newbie that hasnt seen a single one of the Netflix shows?
Clearing out things that no longer bring us joy seems to be the zeitgeist. If you have jumped on the bandwagon of less stuff and more joy, I would love to hear from you! Sometimes you need a second set of willing hands from a bit of a cheerleader to accomplish your goals. I'm your huckleberry.

The focus for this week is BEATING DECISION FATIGUE! πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”
Whether you want to start a new fitness program, take a daily multivitamin, floss your teeth, kill your debt or spend more time cultivating your hobby - there is already someone on the interwebs that has put together a method to help you do just that.
For example, year and years ago, I wanted to add a daily yoga practice to my life and I thought 10 minutes would be legit.
I struggled for a couple of weeks trying to free form. Then I wanted to write my own vinyasa. Then I got stuck and frozen and stopped.
Upon consultation with my ride or die chick, we got to the meat of what I wanted to do. I wanted 10 minutes of yoga per day before the house woke up and I wanted it to last me for the long haul.
We searched YouTube and came up with the practice you see here. I swear to you, I have done this vinyasa thousands of time. Every time I do it, I find comfort in how easy and familiar it is.
I also love that the only decision I had to make was to follow it. If I could just get myself to the mat and give myself 10 minutes, I would achieve my goal.
It is easy because I followed someone else's plan. Following someone else's plan can be fun, effective and super rewarding. Often you will benefit from their lessons learned and be able to avoid delays and mishaps with creating your own from scratch.

Do you have a zillion emails that flood your inbox because of some link that you clicked on or some program you did once or some service you tried? Do you delete before ever opening them because it just isnt relevant right now?


What if I promised you that with just a couple of 15 minute (OR LESS) sessions, that your inbox could be tidy and useful again?

It takes just a couple more clicks and a sscccrrrolllll to the bottom of the marketing copy - but the path to freedom IS THERE!

Ethical businesses dont want to be the reason you hate your email. And it is TOTALLY COOL to want to stay on certain ad campaigns... I am an Anthropologie ADDICT and I look at almost every email they send me. It's a happy little part of my day.

But anything you don't want gets on the UNSUBSCRIBE super highway to Tidy Town.

After you have waited for a FULL BUSINESS DAY with no deleting of the junk and you survey the sheer volume... Grab your kitchen timer and set it for just 15 minutes.

Open each email that you would have simply deleted in the past. DO NOT READ ANYTHING!! Scrollllll directly to the bottom to find the UNSUBSCRIBE hyperlink. Click it and follow it to the page that follows. Make sure you read the conformation and then back to your inbox and DELETE.

Continue until the timer dings. That's it!! Doing this once a week for a couple of weeks will make a HUGE impact. In fact, once you see the difference you will be hooked!!

Simple strategies like a timer while you unsubscribe will change the way you view your inbox. I promise! If you catch yourself saying, "I know I need to do that" but you feel too "busy" to commit to when REACH OUT through the links in my bio. We will clear the way together.
