Foundation Waterproofing & Drainage Project
Had a customer give us a call because they were having foundation water issues and needed drainage installed. We got the foundation excavated and exposed so the waterproofing and drainage could be completed correctly.
The customer asked if they could handle the waterproofing themselves. We said absolutely. At the end of the day, it's your project and we're here to help however we can.
Well, this is a perfect example of something we say all the time:
What's more expensive than a good contractor? A bad one.
Unfortunately, the waterproofing wasn't completed correctly, no drainage system was installed, no drainage stone was placed, and the footer itself was poured rough, out of square, and uneven, making it nearly impossible to properly scrape and prep the foundation wall.
These are all things that should have been addressed during the process, but now we're back to make it right.
The foundation is dug out, exposed, and ready for us to come back, install the drainage system, waterproof it correctly, and get this thing finished up the way it should have been done from the start.
Sometimes doing it twice costs a whole lot more than doing it right the first time.

Man, it’s been a busy few weeks for American Dirt Works.
We’ve been slammed with utility digging for several local companies lately. Haven’t had much time to grab photos, but here’s a few from some recent jobs.
This past Monday evening was one of those calls that reminds you why experience matters. We got an emergency call at 7:30 PM for a water line break—and worked straight through until 1 AM to get it patched and their water back on.
The crazy part?
It was only a 3-year-old home.
Unfortunately, the line failed because it was dug and installed improperly from the start. That’s the stuff that costs homeowners big down the road—and it’s exactly why we take the time to do it right the first time.

Got a call this morning at 6:52 AM.
Customer says, “I’ve got a problem.”
I said, “We can help—what’s going on?”
Months ago their basement flooded due to clogged drains. They had it snaked—clog gone—but drainage stayed extremely slow after rain and snow melt. Then last weekend’s rain hit… and water backed up into the garage.
They had the line scoped.
Turns out the 4-inch pipe was partially crushed—barely open.
Customer tells me:
“I just put $25,000 into finishing my basement. I need this fixed NOW.”
I said, “We’ll be there by 10:30.”
Storm coming. No time to mess around.
Job scope:
Cut 17 ft x 45 inches of concrete driveway
Demo & haul-off
Set new base
Install drainage
Run 180 ft of new pipe
Is it pretty right now?
No.
Will it save this customer tens of thousands in basement repairs?
Absolutely.
