That's not Odysseus in your inbox – but your business could still be at risk of plunder from "Trojans", a classic tactic for cyberattack.

Trojans are malware that hide in email attachments or false links, which give hackers access to your information, like your business' banking credentials. They're hard to get rid of and can wreak a lot of havoc.

Here's how you guard against them:
• Don’t open attachments or click on links from emails or texts that seem out of place or suspicious in some way
• Consider disabling the macro functionality in your spreadsheet and document software
• Maintain antivirus software updates and patches on all computers
• Route internet requests through a proxy
• Use DNS services that block known malicious websites

As always, never rush to action. Pause. Verify. Protect.

Quick cash is usually too good to be true, especially on social media.

Beware schemes that offer easy money or merchandise in exchange for opening new bank accounts or use of your existing account.

Scammers deposit phony checks into these accounts and make purchases or withdrawals before the fake cash is flagged. Then they give you a cut of the ill-gotten gains.

That makes YOU liable for account closure and possible prosecution. So don't play fast and loose with your banking info. Pause. Verify. Protect.
