Congratulations to Holyoke Community College on their continued leadership in clean energy workforce development!
We are excited to welcome leaders from HCC’s renewable energy program to PV Squared Solar headquarters this evening for a hands-on look at what careers in solar look like in practice.
During their visit, we will share what a typical day on a solar installation team involves, walk through electrical training setups and system design basics, and explore the tools, materials, and equipment used in the field. We will also discuss what we look for in new team members and how students can move from training into long-term careers in the industry.
“This kind of experience is where everything starts to click,” said Kate Carter. “Students can see the tools, the systems, and the teamwork involved, and begin to picture themselves in those roles.”
Partnerships like this are essential. Workforce development extends beyond the classroom and takes shape through real-world exposure, mentorship, and connection to people doing the work every day.
As a worker-owned cooperative, we believe the structure of a company matters. When the people doing the work are also the owners, it creates accountability, care, and long-term thinking that benefits both the workforce and the communities we serve.
“Worker-owned cooperatives are a powerful force for good in our communities,” said Alex Peterkin, President of the Board of Directors at PV Squared Solar. “They create meaningful jobs, build local accountability, and keep the benefits of clean energy rooted right here in the places we live. That’s exactly the kind of foundation we need for the green future we’re working toward.”
Built by owners. Built to last. It is more than a tagline. It is how we approach our work and our partnerships.
We are grateful for our continued collaboration with the educators and leaders at HCC who are preparing the next generation of clean energy professionals.
