The Harvard Business Review's latest research says that as much as 80% of employee turnover is due to bad hiring decisions.

It's perhaps the most prevalent, common challenge for every organization, regardless of the size. But it also presents an incredible opportunity.

Recently, Harvard Business Review published a whole issue on the fact that it's time to blow up HR. Simply put, HR is not doing the job. They are not delivering the strategic value to companies that they would like.

A high percentage of them don't even sit on the executive team. A large point. Part of the time they're not even consulted when it comes to hiring decisions and also decisions as to let someone go. It is an incredible opportunity.

Sales is an accuracy game. Let me explain:

At almost every company globally, 20% of the sales people consistently sell 80% of the sales revenue.

One of the few exceptions is residential real estate due to the ease of entry and the amount of part-timers, including retirees, who pick it up just for fun. In real estate it’s more like 5% of the sales people consistently sell 95% of the houses.

In 30 years of sales, I have not met one sales leader who knows why his/her top people consistently bring in a majority of the revenue, or what the top 5% possess that the other 95% are missing.

Simply put, if you don’t possess the right combination of talents, motivation, and personality your results will be a fraction of what they should be.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

Tell me if this process sounds familiar:

A stack of resumes hits your desk or inbox or your applicant tracking system and you pour over them, spending hours of what should be productive time, trying to read between the lines to find that special something that spells success.

Maybe you give candidates a personality test to secure an extra dimension of information about them, but you still don’t feel much closer to the right answer.
