Let's talk about "Quiet Cracking"
Never heard of it? Well, that's because Gen Z or perhaps just the media needs to create buzzwords and phrases for everything these days. In the article I read from The Hill, Michael Bartiromo defines it as "the latest buzzword to describe a lack of fulfillment at work — often as it pertains to job satisfaction, workloads or the potential for growth, among other factors. And unlike “quiet quitting,” it might not necessarily manifest in an employee’s performance — just their happiness."
Maybe it's the Gen X in me. I don't buy this. Get up, put your big girl pants on and make something of your job or find what makes you happy. Don't come "at me" and say it's not that easy, but what I do find simpler is to seek out the ways in which you can be happier at your current job - unless it really is a toxic mess - then you have a whole other problem.
For new grads to be complaining after a few years about "really enjoying this" well to that I say again in another way - speak up, communicate with your team and supervisor, seek out projects that peak your interest, be proactive and productive, and stop whining about being happy if you haven't tried to make happiness for yourself first.
I could really go on about this because it rattled me upon hearing it this morning. What are your thoughts?
