You finally got the keys to your new home! ❤️ Before you start unpacking, here’s one thing worth checking. Running your faucets and showers can help you spot plumbing issues before you settle in.

Here are 5 things to check on move-in day:

1. Check the water pressure. Make sure faucets and showers are working properly.
2. Look for leaks. Check under sinks, around toilets, and near visible pipes.
3. Check the water color and smell. If it looks unusual or smells off, contact your water provider or a qualified plumber.
4. Watch how the drains work. Slow drainage could be a sign of a blockage.
5. Check for changes in hot water. Make sure your water heater is working as expected.

One important note: you don’t automatically need to run every faucet for 45 minutes. Follow your builder’s or water provider’s instructions, especially if the home has been vacant or the plumbing has recently been worked on.
