Are you waiting until things "settle down" before you focus on your marketing?

After summer?
After the holidays?
When cash flow improves?
When your schedule is less hectic?

I understand the thinking, but after all of these years in business, I have learned one important truth:

The perfect time is not coming.

Marketing takes time to work. The blog post you write today, the email you send next week, and the website update you make this month may be the reason a prospect contacts you six months from now.

Progress does not require perfect circumstances. It requires consistent action.

In this week's episode of Confessions from the Home Office, I share why waiting may be costing your business more than you realize and why the best time to start is now.

Here’s a clip from last week’s episode. Give it some time. You’re closer than you think. Listen to episode 72: “You don’t need another strategy – you need to execute the one you have” on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Audible and YouTube.

You don’t need another strategy.
You need to execute the one you already have.

I see this a lot...starting, stopping, tweaking, rethinking… and never giving anything enough time to actually work.

In this episode, I’m talking about what’s really keeping you stuck. It’s probably not what you think.

Stop pivoting every six months.

I know bold moves get celebrated.
-New offers.
-New positioning.
-New launches.
But constant change quietly erodes momentum.

Not every dip requires a pivot. Sometimes it requires refinement.
Before you reset your direction, ask yourself:
-Are you responding to long-term data or short-term discomfort?
-Are you aligned or just comparing yourself to someone else’s pace?

Momentum is built in the steady seasons.

After years in business, I’ve noticed a pattern.
When something feels off in a company… marketing gets blamed.

Revenue is flat?
“Must be the marketing.”

Leads are inconsistent?
“Marketing needs to do more.”

Team overwhelmed and no one is calling the Facebook leads?
…also somehow marketing’s fault.

Here’s the truth: marketing is an amplifier.
If your operations are smooth and your team is clear, marketing accelerates growth beautifully. If your processes live in someone’s head and three new clients cause chaos… marketing will amplify that too.

More visibility doesn’t fix internal strain. It just makes it louder.
In this week’s episode of Confessions From the Home Office Podcast, I talk about why sometimes marketing isn’t the real problem, it’s just the most visible one.

Before you ask, “What tactic are we missing?”
Try asking, “Are we ready for the results we’re asking for?”

It’s not always a marketing issue.
Sometimes it’s a leadership conversation.

I’ve seen very talented marketers derail relationships… and thoughtful, consistent ones build results for years. Skill matters. But it’s not the whole story.
