After recently attending the conference for the third year in a row, Senior Exchange Coordinator, Jamie Kingdom, CES, reflected on what keeps bringing her back, the relationships built along the way, and why spaces like this matter in an industry that’s constantly evolving.

The IRS recently announced disaster-related 1031 exchange deadline postponements for taxpayers affected by recent storms and flooding in Tennessee, Hawaii, and Mississippi.

Current general postponement dates include:

📍 Tennessee (all 95 counties)
New deadline: May 22, 2026

📍 Mississippi (all 82 counties)
New deadline: June 8, 2026

📍 Hawaii (Hawaii, Honolulu, Kauai & Maui counties)
New deadline: July 8, 2026

These postponements may impact both 45-day identification periods and 180-day exchange completion deadlines for qualifying taxpayers.

As always, disaster-related tax relief rules can be nuanced, so we strongly encourage exchangors to speak with their CPA, attorney, and Qualified Intermediary about how these extensions may apply to their situation.
