If the word on this mug were a pill that slashed cortisol by 23% and boosted productivity by 31%, it would be the most expensive drug on the market.

While most people use caffeine to survive the morning, the highest-performing physicians and leaders use gratitude to prime their brain power.

It sounds like a "soft" sentiment, but the data is clear: our brains are hardwired to perform better when in a positive state before the work starts.

I saw this play out with a physician I’ll call Dr. David.

Every morning, he walked into the hospital "braced for impact." He was mentally scanning for what would go wrong: staff dropping the ball, Epic glitches, and dreadful interactions.

He wasn’t being negative; he was being vigilant.

But by 2:00 PM, that vigilance became a lead weight. He was on edge, irritable, and hit with decision fatigue. His nervous system was stuck in "Protection Mode."

The Science of the "Limbic Hijack": When we operate in protection mode, the amygdala triggers a hijack. This down-regulates the prefrontal cortex (PFC)—our problem-solving center. We literally lose access to the tools we need for complex leadership and clinical reasoning.

The Change: We adjusted his "Pre-Game" to optimize his neurochemistry. Before work, he named 3 specific things that were working.

Not a generic "my family" answer, but specific anchors:

"The way the charge nurse handled that crisis yesterday."

"The fact that the coffee machine actually worked today."

The shift was palpable. He became sharper. He stayed calm in stressful situations. He navigated clinic more quickly and his patients were happier—even though he spent less time with them.

By anchoring in gratitude, Dr. David was flipping a biological "off-switch" for the amygdala, unlocking the PFC for its best work: complex surgery and rapid decision-making.

Gratitude didn't fix the hospital's problems, but it gave him a better Operating System to solve them.

The Practice: Tomorrow, before work, ask yourself: “What are 3 specific things I am grateful for?”

Watch your performance skyrocket.

Feeling extra grateful for the time with family this year!

The Christmas season has a way of slowing everything down just enough to notice what we may typically rush past and what we have to be truly grateful for.

The conversations with family.
The people who matter most.
The support we are thankful for.

It’s a good reminder that behind everything we do for work are the people in our personal lives who deserve our time, focus, and attention.

Wishing you and yours an incredible holiday season and blessings in 2026!

Here’s the real reason most physicians don’t grow as fast as they should:
It’s not skill.
It’s not marketing.
It’s not even competition.

It’s being forgettable in the moments that count.

Not because you are forgettable,
but because you’re already running at capacity, so the follow-up that keeps you top of mind never becomes a real system.

And without a system, even the strongest first impression fades.

Every physician has lived this:
You meet a provider who seems like an ideal referral partner.
You have a great conversation.
They’re enthusiastic.
They say, “I’ll send you patients.”

Fast-forward a few weeks…
nothing.

Not because they changed their mind.
Not because they don’t trust your skill.
But because life, inboxes, and a thousand competing priorities bury the memory of that meeting.

This is the silent leak in most practices.
Not horrible operations.
Not poor outcomes.
Just… people forgetting.

What separates the physicians who grow consistently from the ones who plateau isn’t luck.
it’s having a steady, strategic follow-up cadence that keeps you present without being pushy.
It builds familiarity.
It maintains trust.
It positions you as the obvious choice.

Very few physicians have the bandwidth to create and maintain that system.
That’s why their growth feels slower than their capability.

if you know you’re capable of more and you’re done leaving growth to chance
this is exactly what we build and run for our clients.

If you want a 3-step referral system that keeps you truly memorable and consistently top-of-mind without adding more to your plate

The height of your success & the quality of your life isn’t determined by how hard you work.

It’s determined by the people you surround yourself with.

Why?

The people we surround ourselves with directly influence our mindset: what we believe is possible to achieve…or not.

They also influence our decisions and actions—all of which impact the level of success we achieve.

The foundation of greater success and a truly fulfilling life is built on authentic, growth-driven relationships—the kind that don’t just support you but challenges you to step into the greatest version of yourself.

💡 What's the fastest way to level up?

Get in rooms where:

✅ People think bigger than you

✅ Conversations push you beyond your comfort zone

✅ Growth is the standard—not the exception
If you’re always the smartest, most motivated, or most successful person in your circle, it’s time to upgrade your environment.

📣 Tag the people who push you, inspire you, and make you better. Then take action to grow together.

Yesterday wasn’t just a birthday celebration—it was an amazing reminder of what happens when you surround yourself with people who elevate you. I'm thankful for this incredible group of women who don’t just show up for others—they lift each other.

These women don’t compete.
They collaborate.

They don’t tear down.
They build up.

They don’t just celebrate birthdays.
They celebrate growth, courage, and becoming better every day.

This is what elevation through community looks like—iron sharpening iron, encouragement that fuels action, and friendships that push you to levels you never imagined.

If you’re not surrounded by people who genuinely want to see you win, it’s time to find your circle. Because the right people don’t just add to your life—they multiply your potential.

Under Stress or Pressure? Read caption ⬇️

Reboot your brain to boost productivity, creativity, and solve problems faster in just 3 minutes.

Whether you're inn the OR, preparing for a high-stakes meeting, or managing a complex case, stress doesn’t just weigh on you—it actively clouds your ability to think clearly, solve problems, and make creative decisions.

But what if you could flip the switch and take back control in just a few breaths?

✨ The Science:
When stress hits, your brain’s higher-level cognitive functions get downregulated. Strategic breathwork changes your neurochemistry, reactivating the clarity, focus, and creativity you need to perform at your best.

Try This 3-Minute Technique:
1️⃣ Inhale deeply through your nose for 4 seconds.
2️⃣ Hold for 4 seconds.
3️⃣ Exhale slowly through your mouth for 6 seconds.
4️⃣ Repeat for 3 minutes.

Feel the Shift: From scattered to sharp, from stressed to solution-focused.

Creating a team that is as passionate and invested as you are doesn’t happen by simply raising expectations. It happens when you lead with purpose, clarity, and connection.

When your team feels truly valued, understand how their mission and role align with the vision, and trusted to take ownership, they’re not coming to work just to check boxes—they’re driven by purpose. They bring their best, not because they have to, but because they believe in what you’re building.

Great leadership isn’t about commanding compliance; it’s about cultivating commitment. It’s about transforming a group of individuals into a powerhouse of purpose and collaboration.

How do you create an environment where your team is inspired to care as much as you do?

Let’s start a conversation and help other leaders elevate their teams — drop your thoughts below. 👇

Who are you? What could you achieve if you knew you couldn't fail?

At the recent Green Summit, I challenged attendees with these questions—questions I also bring to clients who hesitate before crucial conversations or decisions.

At 16, a severe car accident was predicted to steal my ability to walk. I responded by answering these same questions by defining myself as limitless and setting my goal to walk again. Today, not only do I walk—I run, hike, and snowboard. 🏂💪

You too are limitless.

Your potential isn't shaped by others' opinions, your past failures, or societal labels. It's crafted by your dedication and determination against all odds.

This mindset has transformed my approach in healthcare, where I teach physicians the power of positive communication to elevate patient outcomes, team culture, and professional relationships.

It's allowed me to inspire students and leaders to turn setbacks into stepping stones and pursue relentless innovation.

How you answer these questions fuels what you achieve

So Who are you? And What goal will you commit to today to achieve your goals?

The story you tell yourself changes the story you can tell the world, the life you have and the outcomes you achieve.

If the story we tell ourselves sounds like…

😞 I'm not good enough
😒 I don’t deserve that more than they do
😪 Things will always be like this

The story you tell the world by the way you show up, the actions you take and the outcomes you achieve is…

⭕️ Don't believe in me - don't refer me that patient or give me the position
⭕️ Give the opportunity, capital request, good treatment to someone else
⭕️ Bring me more of the same

But when you change the story to

💪I am good enough and skilled enough
😃I do deserve that
📆Things may be hard now, but I know I can change this situation/ improve these relationships

We show up differently, take different actions and get different outcomes.

When your inner story aounda like this, you begin telling the world through your actions and interactions…

🏅You can believe in me and trust that when you refer me that patient or give me the position I'll deliver
🪙 Give me the opportunity, capital request, good treatment to someone else
🫂 My relationship, work-life balance, or how much I enjoy working with my team is improving

Rewriting the internal narratives that shape our actions and influence our outcomes is no small feat. It requires not just insight but also the commitment to transform those deeply held beliefs in order to transform your outcomes.

If you're ready to break the cycle of self-doubt and start crafting a new story—one where you stand empowered and deserving, full of energy, and growing your practice / business quickly—then let's connect.

Whether it’s a hike, trying a new hobby, or exploring a new place, these moments of adventure activate the brain’s reward system, leading to increased motivation and innovative thinking. 🌿✨

I hadn't been horse back riding since I was 9, so when I got an invite to go for a sunset ride with a friend last night,  I of course said yes!

And that little adventure has already boosted my creativity!
